Hi there, it’s so nice to have you here! Let’s cut to the chase right away. I’m just starting my personal blog for the first time in my life. I have no idea what exactly I’ll be writing about and how, but I feel that I have to do this. I’m sure, though, that I’ll always find something to tell and write about. So, let’s see what happens! Before we start, I want to thank you for being here and taking your time to read this. Here we go.
Opening Struggle
I’ve wanted to start my blog a long time ago. Oftentimes, when I would think about it, I would overthink a lot. “I need a structure”, “I need a plan and strategy”, and things like that would pop up in my head. So well done, me. It looks like I’ve already made some progress since I’m writing my first blog post.
I’m often writing my thoughts in my physical notebooks, or digitally in a form of notes, but I’ve never dared to share anything outside of that, publicly. Usually, I’m capturing and writing down my thoughts about self-improvement, habits, fitness, business, and mental health. I would write whenever I would have to talk to someone or I would want to check in with myself about how I’m feeling at the moment; like if you had a person next to you as soon as you open a notebook and you start talking to them. It literally feels like that to me. It’s communicating with myself. And the best part is, whatever you say or write, no one will judge you or say “Man, what are you talking about? You are crazy!”.
Realization Leads To Clarification
These ideas and notes were never structured or ready to be published; I was thinking that no one would ever be interested enough to read them until I had a deeper conversation with a good friend of mine. He needed help at that moment and I was there by his side. After I’ve shared some thoughts about his situation, he said that my advice was really good and it helped him to have a better perspective about it.
I’m not quite sure, but I think it was the moment when I realized that I actually have the power to help others and someone would perhaps care about what I have to say. I loved it. The fact that I was able to help him feel better, fulfilled me in a way that very few things in the world would. Since then, I’ve been writing down my thoughts and content ideas, but have never decided to share them with others.
Before starting this blog, I had to ask myself some questions to get more clarity on what I would write about and how I would structure my thoughts since I have no prior experience in blogging. I knew I’ll figure out the structure along the way, but I still didn’t know what to write about. In order to find this out, I had to dive deeper and ask myself what really makes me happy. What gives me purpose and motivation? And the answer was obvious – helping others to feel happier and calmer, to be healthier and smarter. If I am able to do just that, if I could inspire someone in a way how Sly inspired me with the Rocky movies, that would be my purpose in life.
What Can You Expect On This Blog?
I love experimenting with things. I’m always looking for better solutions and ways to live my life. As a result, I’ve experimented with intermittent fasting, various diets, and exercising routines. Also, I love reading and learning new stuff, and I always seek new opportunities for improvements in my professional life and career. This alone led me to the position of software developer and team leader, where I’m currently at. I’ll share with you some of the productivity hacks that helped me to make big progress in my career in the last few years.
As for my hobbies, I’m interested in sports, collecting vinyl records (and listening to them), photography, filmmaking, investing, and flipping stuff for a profit. I’m a big believer that fitness and work go together hand in hand. Most people think that if they exercise (strength training, running, or any other type of physical activity), they will not have much energy to do any work or chores. But in reality, it’s the opposite. As you exercise more, your body chemicals will kick in, you’ll feel more clearly mentally, you’ll have more energy, and you’ll be more prepared for whatever your life will bring to you next.
Let’s face it, exercising is pain.
As well as learning new skills and working on yourself. As soon as you accept the pain as your co-traveler, things in your life get a lot easier and simpler. That’s the magical trick and the majority of people never learn this.
Then, there’s music. I can’t imagine my life without it. I was playing guitar in a band, and additionally I’ve started learning to play piano and saxophone. Classical, rock, soft, hardcore, pop, techno, instrumental, film soundtracks, you name it. I love all of them! Listening to music is a sort of meditation for me. Have you ever tried it? Let me show you, hold my beer.
Think of a song that you really like and haven’t heard it for a longer period of time. Move from distractions for five minutes, put the headset on your ears, close your eyes, and start the song as your body remains calm. The effect is better when you’re sitting down. There you go.
Teaching is also one of the things that I’m very passionate about. I’ve had the privilege to teach my colleagues at work, customers on-site, as well as my friends privately. As I’ve written above, teaching and helping others is actually one of the reasons why I’m starting this blog.
Furthermore, I’ve tried meditating, journaling, and many other things, routines, productivity hacks, and habits.
As you can see, I’ll always have something to write about and I’m looking forward to hanging out with you here on my blog!
Conclusion
In my early years, I didn’t pay much attention to reading and writing. Now, as I’m getting closer to 30, I appreciate it more than ever before. For me, writing is getting to know myself better. Just like with traveling you’re broadening your horizons to the outside, writing broadens your horizons to the inside. There is no end and you will always find something new.
For sure, I don’t think I’m the next philosopher like Marcus Aurelius was (I wish), but I do think that he wouldn’t be the “Marcus Aurelius” if he hadn’t been journaling and writing down his thoughts. In the end, life is too short. What is the purpose of life if not self-growth and sharing experiences and thoughts with others?
I’ll leave you with that, until my next post.
Before you leave…
Before you leave this page for today, I would love to know if anybody has read this post until the end. If you are one of these people, congratulations, thank you again, and please consider commenting down below. It will spike my confidence level through the roof, which will probably lead to writing a new blog post sooner.
Stay healthy, and take care.
